My Personal Experience with Bad Water Damage in the Foundation of my Home

Water damage can be a very stressful thing. The costs to fix the water damage are really expensive and when I found out that mold was growing in one of the bedrooms in my home, I assumed the worse. I thought that maybe my house was flooding underneath from all of the rain we had been getting. It turns out, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was, but I ended up having to do quite a lot of work on the home in order to get the wood restored and back to its original condition. You see, I was neglecting the gutters that I had just had installed the previous year and I didn't put any kind of extender on the end of the drains to make sure that the water ran away from the home properly. Since I had nothing to extend the drains, they were draining remarkably close to the house. A lot of this water was soaking into the ground, but not all of it. Unfortunately some of the water was running toward the house and beginning to leak down into underneath the house. This is where our foundation boards were at. The water damage Atlanta completely covered most of the foundation near that area, and it soaked the wood going up the walls of that area. I'm not sure how so much water got feet above ground level, apparently water can run uphill inside wood! I assume that the wood was just soaking it up so much that it had no where else to go but up.
Nevertheless, I replaced a few of the boards and wood that looked the worse. This cleared about the majority of the problems but there were still a few concerns remaining. I wanted to ensure that this wouldn't happen again too so after replacing a bunch of the wood I decided to call in a company that offered a water damage and mold removal service. I had gotten rid of all the wood that had mold but their services gave me peace of mind that the stuff they were spraying on the wood would make sure the mold didn't grow back.
